question When people ask “exactly what is True Colors,” how do you reply?


Kent Dean's Answer My most common answer is that it’s a personality communications curriculum. Honestly, it’s much more. But, it starts with personality typing and then focuses on understanding how to communicate more effectively with the different personalities and recognizing their strengths, stresses, joys and frustrations.


question So, is it just another personality or temperament test?


Kent Dean's Answer Absolutely not! While the personality testing of True Colors will render results statistically valid to tests like Meyers-Briggs, there is nothing in the methodology even remotely similar. In my opinion, most other tests are assessments to learn about yourself. True Colors® is truly a tool to create success in dealing with others.


question What makes a True Colors seminars different from others?


Kent Dean's Answer It’s fun and relevant. Companies can’t afford to waste time and money on training that isn’t relevant to improving performance; employees certainly don’t want to attend a seminar that isn’t engaging. At the start of each True Colors training, I make three promises to attendees: 1. They will laugh a lot. 2. They will learn something they can apply immediately. 3. Time will fly by. So far, I’m batting 1000 on delivery...(not being a big baseball fan, I’m assuming this is good. It is, right?)


question What has surprised you the most about True Colors application in the workplace?


Kent Dean's Answer Two things really stand out in my mind. First, when an organization completes a training, it changes the language in the workplace. True Colors “talk” becomes the language for expressing the traits of others, and the understanding within that language immediately improves communication, morale and self-esteem. Secondly, I’ve been pleased at how effectively True Colors serves as a management tool. It really helps management teams to assess departmental strengths and weaknesses, realign personnel, and improve overall performance and employee satisfaction.


question What do you like most about conducting True Colors seminars?


Kent Dean's Answer The laughter. True Colors has a trademarked delivery methodology called Edutainment. In my opinion, it’s the primary commodity for delivering the kind of results that True Colors is known for. You laugh, you learn, you use!
